Cherating!

Hello folks!

For the holiday weekend, I took a wee trip down to Cherating with a few friends. It was mainly a trip to revive! I am a beach bum at heart. Jes give me the sand, the sea air, a deck chair and a good book and Bob's your uncle! Hours of time ticking away with only the tide giving clues as to what time of day it is!

When I first came to KL in 2001...I went to Cherating often and found it to be very different to how it is today. Back in 2001 I think the people made Cherating...now...its a little bit more commercial but the move forward has given it a different vibe....not bad...only different. I have to say...the food got better and to be honest...no one can make keropok lekor like Kuantan!! I even bought some home to fry when I need a pick me up and reminise about the trip! ha ha ha

The drive to Cherating was awesome...sometimes we really forget how picturesque Malaysia really is and driving up and down was one of my favorite parts of my quick holiday. On the way back, we stopped in a small town (wish I could remember the name) where we pigged out on Roti Jala and the owner of the stall told us that there was an Elephant Sanctuary nearby...so...with some time on our hands, we detoured from our journey back and the ride to the Elephant Sanctuary took us deeper into the Jungle/Kampung area which was quiter and amazingly beautiful!

The Elephant Rehabilitation Center was closed but they let us look around and I was amazed that they even had one AND it was in very good condition. So...next trip to plan is there! Sometimes I have to say, I underestimate the thrills and spills Malaysia can offer a traveller and if you look hard enough and dare tostray slightly from thestraight and narrow onto the beaten track....you're sure to find something, that will make youappreciate this country even more!

Hope you all had a good weekend!

X Sara
