Good friends!
Hey All!
Its come to a point in my life where its not the places you go or the money you pay...its about the company you keep! I have to say, I get better friends the older I get. When you're young, everyone seems to have their fickleness about friends...some even use you to their advantage. Thats not to say that doesn't happen now, but I think we're at an age where we're wiser about it. I've always been the person who was happy with 2 or 3 good, tell-absolutely-everything-to friends...but as time went on and work got heavier...it got harder to maintain the friendship. The true test though...is how you talk to a person after you've not talked to them for say, a year?!
I've had a friend I've known since I was 12. We're both from Kuching, she's Malay and a great, funny, gal! We went to school in Singapore together, went to the UK together, lived in KL together and worked together! I was there when she gave birth, when she got married, when she got divorced. But about 5 years ago...we started to grow apart and saw less and less of each other.
We managed to catch up the other day, talking till the cows came home...and basically, when I hung up the phone I realised that this girl, is a girl who will always be there whenever I need help. How can I tell? When you speak to someone you haven't spoken to in a few years and it seemed like someone you spoke to just last week! True friends aren't bothered about uncomfortable silences, they're don't have to prove themselves by calling up for updates every now and then...they're jes there...whenever you need them. Time is truly the test.
Cherish your friends folks!
